 WE DO TO!
I am pleased to announce we will be opening CKRC indoor speedway “CIS”. An indoor off road carpet track within the next week. If things go well we may be able to keep it open for some time.
Heres the deal. I have acquired an 8000-sqft building for us to race in. The catch is the building is for sale or rent, but at 1.2 million or $10,000.00 a month. I don’t think it will be going anywhere soon in this economy. This means this may be long or short term. If it rents or sells, I will find another location to move everything to.
We have installed over 4000 sqft of carpet and we are currently in the finishing stages.
The building needs to be available to show to a client at any time, so the tile floor, bathrooms, and all the walls to be kept clean and UN damaged. PLEASE respect the grounds inside and out.
With that said here is the plan.
To start CKRC will be holding a race every Friday night and every tuesday.
These are the current running times for the races.
Tuesdays: practice runs from 4:30 to 6:45. sign ups start at 6:00pm and end at 6:30pm. Races start at 7:00pm End ?
Fridays: practice runs from 4:30 to 6:45. sign ups start at 6:00pm and end at 6:30pm. Races start at 7:00pm End ?
LOCATION:
The address is 3050 Kietzke Lane. It is directly across from Harry’s quality used cars and behind the big O tires center. The building was formerly Saint Vincent’s Thrift Store. It’s a great location in the center of town. What’s also cool is the store next door is a convenience store, dollar store, and liquor store all in one. You wont have to go far to get eats, drinks or even tools.
The track will be 87 x 40 feet. The track has two separate locations for pits and there are plenty of wall sockets available for power.
What we are NOT doing is supply pit tables and chairs. Please bring your regular track table and chair. Several of us have also all driven there and feel in is unnecessary to have a drivers stand. We are working on a handicap stand for Sy that should be done tonight.
If you feel you need more height, feel free to bring your favorite milk crate.
Classes and fees.
Obviously because the location, we will not be allowed to run nitro vehicles ELECTRIC ONLY. 1/8 scale buggy or smaller.
Entry fee for your first class will be $15.00. Each additional entry will be $10.00 (includes practice)
CKRC will be starting with the following classes:
Novice class: Anyone new who wants to race. Anything runs.
2wd stock class: 2wd buggies or stadium trucks: Lipo’s are allowed with lipo sack charging. 19 turn motor limit or 10.5 brushless.
Short course truck stock class: open to 2wd trucks. Lipo’s are allowed with lipo sack charging. 19 turn motor limit or 10.5 brushless.
Short course truck open class: 4x4 and 2wd with any motor set up. Lipo’s are allowed with lipo sack charging.
1/8 scale Electric buggy: Just what it says. Fast and 4wd!
Mini class: Vehicles such as: Revo 1/16 Slash 1/16 Duratrax 1/18 vehicles Associated 1/18 vehicles Losi 1/18 vehicles Are all allowed Lipo’s are allowed with lipo sack charging.
We are open to more classes if enough people show for each race. 5 or more people must show to make a class . If not enough people show, we will throw you into another appropriate class so you can still race. Classes that have currently showed interest are:
4wd modified class: Associated b44, BJ4, Schumacher, losi, etc.
If running lipo’s. We require a lipo-charging bag. CKRC will have them for sale for only $10.00
So after all this what are you thinking?
How about, how are you going to do an indoor offroad racetrack? Well that’s easy, so check out the vids below.

Here are some picks of the progress?

so far we have a half pipe, 18ft table top, a over/under double, rhythm sections, and a triple jump!
Track etiquette:
With all the BS going on with racing around here, I just want to be very clear about a few things. I don’t care if you’re white, black, the devil or a Christian. We are doing this for the fun of it. I don’t plan on making any money, but I also don’t want to lose any.
Again I am doing this for the fun. I have invested over $4000.00 so we all have a place to race. With that said, if you don’t like the way we are doing things, don’t like the track, think someone cheats, don’t like the classes or whatever that usually comes up on this board. Then please, Don’t bother showing up because we are not going to deal with it.
“We are however open to suggestive comments and or friendly criticism”.
We are running a 3 strikes policy. You will be warned twice before you are asked to not return. We think this is more than fair and should keep a good, positive environment, and make racing more fun. This has not been the case at other races.
The 6 Basic Rules: 1. Have a good time and don’t disrespect others. 2. Please take care of the building and track. 3. Clean up after yourself. PLEASE. OH, and CLEAN UP AFTER YOURSELF! 4. Lipo charging bags are required. 5. No smoking in the building. We have supplied a smoking room. 6. This is a Race track, not a bash track. If you are bashing the track, you will be asked to leave.
Well we have acquired the insurance and are ready to race.
That’s it. Our first race day will be Friday January the 8th at 7:00pm
I hope you guys are as stoked as we are. See you at the races!

Looks great. A few things you may want to consider to minimize damage of the walls, you may want to protect the wall in the areas of the quarter pipe and table top areas. No need to get an 1/8 scale buggy stuffed into the wall and damage it.

It doesn't matter which way you are facing, as long as you are going in the right direction. Straights are for fast cars. Turns are for fast drivers. Whoever said nothing is impossible never tried slamming a revolving door.

No on road. we saw how well that worked before. We also didnt spend a lot of time making the carpet perfectly flat. As far as the walls, we have some banners going in tonight by the table top and if you look at the half pipe. there is a 2x4 rejection bar nailed to it. Its been tested against 1/8 scale so far and the bar has won.

I heard traction is plentiful.
So soft sticky tires will be twitchy and bald in a few runs.
A harder compound tire would last longer without sacrificing to much traction.
Looks great guys!

If running a slash, blitz, SC10 the stock tires are the way to go. They provide the right amount of traction and will last for a very long time.

Track looks great all cleaned up, you guys are f'ing pimps!
Indeed, traction is NOT an issue, stock BLITZ tires are hooked up.
Track is an absolute blast. By far the best indoor offroad carpet track on Kietzke Ln. right now.

I was hoping someone would finally do this. Just for racing? Or will it be available for someone who just wants some non-competitive action.
Edit: I'm still waiting for a indoor drift track...

I am pretty sure it will not be open full time. Just when a race is scheduled.

Looks like I might have to attend a race for once. Put that Slash 4x4 through it's pace.
