I was looking into possibly getting one down the road. Everything I have read about them on largescaleforums.com states that they are almost a clone. Almost all parts are transferable from HPI, and that the motor isn't the best. Besides that the arms are thinner and most of the plastics are lesser quality. Much to expect of a 5-6 hundred dollar version of a 1000 dollar RC.
There is a seller on eBay that sells these with a bunch of extras added, one of which is a better motor and nice chromoly roll cage.

Hell for 4-5 hundred off the 5b I would get one. If I ever bought a 5b I would probably end up spending 5-6 hundred in upgrades. So you get the king motors and spend the difference in upgrades who would know any better?

I wouldn't buy a knockoff at all. Buy a used 5b and put some money into it. When I sold the 5b I still made quite a bit of profit.

I love my HPI Baja 5b, but to each their own. You can read about other people arguing over this here: http://www.rctech.net/forum/oval-larger-scales-more/364825-baja-knock-off.html

i agree 100% with jacsac, don't support the cloners. there isn't really anything that NEEDS to be upgraded on a hpi 5b. they are very tough. support the real manufactures.
i love my 5b too
