Just want to see if anyone is up for a little boat race on the 4th of July at the Sparks Marina.
As most of you know this is the Star Spangled Sparks event and there will be a lot of people. I did try and get this going last year but was beat out by the milk carton regatta. The organizers thought having 10-15 kids throwing trash in the water would be more exciting than a few electric boats doing 30-40mph. I think if I get them to listen early enough this year they might be able to work us in.
-My plan is to try and get an early time slot (lot of events going on and they do not like multiple events going at the same time).
-The early time spot is so we do not sit around all day, people get board and boats will get trashed / sunk before the race.
-Water should be smooth, hardly any waves or wind.
-Crowds will be there but not so much as toward the evening. Set up will be easier.
-I do not foresee more than 6-7 people being interested so each driver will have a scheduled practice / tuning block. This will also get people to come and ask questions and come back for the race.
-One heat, one race - most of these boats use 2 packs and last all of about 5-10 mins.
There will be no restrictions on boats other than having to be electric (no sailboats).
(most of the boats will be in the 25-33in range for those thinking about getting one)
Would like to each driver have 2 sets of batteries per boat. That way you can practice/charge/heat/charge/Race
I would like to run each driver with a spotter.
2 people on the laptop(or piece of paper

)
I am not saying I can get this done, it would just help me decide if I want to put the effort in it.
What I need to know is how many with rc boats (or planning to get one) would be interested?
For those that are interested but do not have a boat. The Aquacraft Supervee 27 is a very nice boat. Has enough speed to be exciting and handles very well if set up correctly. For set up check out skeeno's Supervee.
